Retro PipBoy Pie

comlicated name, yes. Can't think of a better one though

So, a while ago I promised to make my nephew a PipBoy. Relatively standard enough in the maker-sphere, everyone seems to have done it at some point.

There was one thing though that bugged me about all the ones I'd seen. They could only be used as an actual pipboy, with the screens and interfaces that you saw in the Fallout games.

Which you know, is cool and everything, but it means that inevitably after it's been worn out to a couple of Cons and shown off to your mates, what's it going to do?

Well I think we all know the answer to that one. It will end up in the parts bin, destined to be broken apart for bits in subsequent projects.

Secondly, I've always wanted a wrist computer, but reality always kicks in when I start looking for tiny, usable and cheap keyboards (you can have 1 of those, but only one).

So, what then? It's going to be a Raspberry Pi obviously. Hmn, I've made RetroPie builds before (https://retropie.org.uk/), I once made one into a dead Wii I bought off Ebay and fitted a 7" screen in it (ironically long since broken into other projects after going in teh parts bin...).

Actually, that WOULD be cool. A PipBoy that you could play retro games on.

Then I had a look at the various models that had been in the preceeding Fallout games and none of them were exactly what I wanted, so being a creator type of maker I thought 'sod it, I'll design my own!'.

So I did.
